Intern With an Agent
Work with Extension agents across the state to see firsthand how the organization serves Georgia. Get hands-on experience in the field and office and, whenever possible, be matched with an agent in your preferred county or region.
Above: Summer Intern Graduation at Rock Eagle. If you're interested in a career in Extension, completing an internship will put you a big step ahead of the competition.
Who Is Eligible?
Students currently enrolled at any college or university in an undergraduate or graduate program are eligible. Graduates may also apply for an internship during the semester immediately following graduation. We’re looking for people with:
- interest in pursuing a career with Extension.
- desire to serve others and a genuine interest in people.
- ability to lead, teach, motivate, and communicate effectively.
- motivation to continue learning and growing professionally.
- desire to work as part of a team.
The majority of our paid internships are offered during the summer, so be sure to apply early for full consideration. We also offer a limited number of volunteer and part-tme internships during fall and spring semesters. If you need class credit, it’s up to you to work with your academic advisor to arrange for college credit. This internship meets UGA's experiential learning requirement.
Apply your classroom knowledge to the job and improve your communication.
Meet people in the local community and within the organization’s statewide network while learning from our best agents.

We generally have a very limited number of unpaid and part-time placements available during fall and spring semesters. "Whether I was working in the field with a grower or with 4-H’ers at camp, my internship allowed me to grow by learning something different every day. I fell in love with the work that Extension does to serve people of all ages in Georgia."
